At first release in August 2020, we announced that, because of the COVID pandemic, Behayve would be free for the first year. Users downloading the app would have lifetime free updates and support.

Well, COVID is still with us, hampering many a research project. So we’re extending the free period until late 2022. We hope it might help your friends and colleagues.

Ultimately there will need to be a charge for new users. Development has been voluntary on our own time, involving many person-years of effort, approaching 200,000 lines of code written, and many thousands of dollars out of pocket. So we’d like to see some of those costs recovered. At the same time, we want it to be affordable for students, who are after all the future. A share of all proceeds will go towards Living Ocean’s work.
